Before you can learn how to use a DVD ripper, you’ll need to install one in your computer. Fortunately this is easy because many of these apps are available for free download on the Net. The following are some of the programs you can try.

Step 1

Download the program and install it. Open the program. You can load the DVD files from the “IFO files”, “DVD Folder” and “DVD Rom”.

Step 2

Click the “Profile” drop-down menu. Put a check on “iPod”. For the output, select “iPod Video H.264 (*.mp4)”. Click the “Browse” button if you want to save the file in another folder.

Tip: you can combine video as one file with the “Merge into one file” command. The drop down list also lets you change the “Subtitle” and “Audio Track” options.

Step 3

Go to “Settings” and adjust the video parameters if you like. You can modify the video bit rate, frame rate, resolution and encoder. The higher the settings, the better the output quality will be. But this will increase the file size.

Step 4

Click “Start” and the ripping process will start.

Step 1

Download and install the program. Launch the application after you install it. Put the DVD you want to rip in the drive. Note: ensure there is enough space and memory in your computer.

Click the “Start” button. This will begin the ripping process. On the average, it will take about 10 to 20 minutes for the ripping to finish. However, this will also depend on the DVD drive speed and the specs of your computer. The quality of the disc is another thing you must assess.

Tips

Many of these ripping programs come with several features. These include adjusting brightness, contrast and saturation. Some rippers also let you crop the edges and modify the video play size.
